About the event
Shakespeare in South Shore is a drama-based trauma therapy program for young people, using classical theatre as a tool for emotional processing and healing. Participants read, perform, and reinterpret scenes from Shakespeare's plays — grief in Hamlet, resilience in The Tempest, identity in Twelfth Night — under the guidance of trained teaching artists and therapists.
Rather than asking young people to talk directly about their own experiences, the program gives them a script, a character, and a stage to stand on. That distance often makes it easier to access and express what's underneath.
The program is part of Wildbloom Institute's broader mission: building academic, civic, and financial literacy alongside mental wellness, through the arts. Every session, every performance, and every young actor is part of that work.
